Early Marsh Drawing
Charcoal on Paper, 12 X 13. in.
This small drawing is a bit of treasure from my past. I drew it on location behind a little beach house I was renting in my mid-20's here in Charleston. The place was an overgrown wet marsh, and I was up to my ankles in mud, drawing it. About 5 years later, while living in Santa Cruz, my art studio burned to the ground - it was about a 600' external building. This is the only piece of work that survived the fire. You can see the fire extinguisher liquid marks on the upper right part of the drawing - like a big water mark, and some of the edges are burned. But it is still a sweet drawing to me.
